Part of Performance Night at the Zabludowicz Collection
Free but booking recommended: http://www.zabludowiczcollection.com/london/events/performance-night-27-June
An evening of performance works from Katrina Palmer, Emma Smith and Jack Tan.
This event is part of an ongoing series of new performance commissions, made in response to the current exhibition, Painting from the Zabludowicz Collection, that seek to activate the performative, material and affective qualities of the paintings on display.
The Sequence of Events (includes a blood-bespattered table), is a live reading accompanied by objects, music and video, in which Katrina Palmer narrates a series of incidents that revolve around a piece of furniture found in the gallery offices. For ∆E=W (change in energy = the work) Emma Smith invites the public to explore the energetic relation of people, practice and space through a series of vocal and physical actions played out in the exhibition. In From Guantanamo, Jack Tan uses paintings from the exhibition and the gallery building itself as props to explore the relationship between individual and communal protest in a choreographed performance combining song, vocal utterances and physical poses.
