“If a man … who was capable by his cunning of assuming all shapes and imitating all things should arrive in our city bringing with himself the poems which he wished to exhibit, we should fall down and worship him as a holy and wondrous and delightful creature, but should say to him there is no man of that kind in our city among us, nor is it lawful for such a man to arise among us, and we should send him away to another city …” (Republic 398a, Plato).

A man told us his life story but wouldn’t let us film him or tell anyone what he told us. This is a film that translates his presence and the presentation of his communication without representing him in any way.
